TLV563x DAC SPI daisy chaining

Hello,

I would like to daisy chain this converter with some other different devices that have different shift register lengths.

In the TLV563X data sheet page10: ..after 16 bits have transferred, the shift register contents are moved to the addressed register.... So if I am shifting a bunch of bits to all of the different devices in my chain, how can I make sure that data is not transfered out of the shift registers until all of the bits have been shifted?

  • Hi John,

Sorry for the long delay here in getting back to you.  The shift register in the TLV563x is dependent on 16 clocks.  The first 16 to the device load the data, the next 16 clocks shifts that data out to 'other parts' down stream.  I'm not sure how you can do this cleanly - what are the other devices in your chain?  If you cannot maintain the byte/word integrity of the TLV563x, it may not work properly.
