Query on ADS 1298

Hi,

ADS 1298 can be connected  to supply by two methods.

Unipolar supply and by polar supply.

Can you explain the advantages and disadvantages of these configuration?

  • Harisha,

I am moving your post to the correct forum.

  • Hello Harisha,

There should be no difference in device performance from one power supply configuration to another, as long as you are within the ranges specified in the datasheet. The advantages to using one over the other are application specific. With the bipolar supply, you will have to generate a negative supply voltage somewhere on your board. If there is already one available, that might be easy for you to do. Otherwise, the digital and analog ground potentials can be shared for convenience. The bipolar supply might make it easier if you wish to measure a single-ended input voltage with respect to board ground since you could connect the negative input pin for that channel directly to 0 V and have the positive input voltage swing positive to negative with respect to your board ground.
