Hi,

Is there any reason why CS cannot be held low all of the time, outside of increased power consumption?

    Hi DJ,

    Yes, tying /CS low would increase power disspation, but it would also mean that you've lost the ability to tri-state the ADC outputs (DOUT and BUSY). This would be important if you have multiple ADCs on your board sharing the same output bus.
