Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE4403, AFE4400

Hi Team,

My customer considers to use AFE for heart rate monitor of wearable sensor module.
I believe AFE4400 or AFE4403 is appropriate solution for it.
Is there any other AFE device that is recommended for this application?

If AFE4400 and AFE4403 are recommended, I would also like to know which is better in terms of low cost.

Best Regards,
Yaita

  • Kensuke,

We have received your post and hope to have a response back to you soon.
  • Hi Amy-san,

    Thank you for your support.
I am looking forward to your reply.

  • Kensuke,

Both are great parts for wearable solutions. It will depend on what the customer is most interested in. I would review both datasheets to see which one is the best suited to their application. For example, The AFE4403 has the 2 LEDs in either H-bridge of common anode config. + 3rd LED in common anode config. Also, the AFE4403 has a programmable LED current up to 100mA with 8-bit current resolution, while the AFE4400 is programmable up to 50mA.
  • Hi Amy-san,

Thank you for your reply. I understood.

    I have another question.
I found the following about "third LED support" in page.39 of AFE4403 datasheet.

If my customer would like to support both SPO2 and HRM, does he have to select AFE4403 instead of AFE4400?

    Best Regards,
    Yaita

  • Yaita,

Sorry for the delay. Either part will be okay, but again it will depend on the customers needs. For example, if they need 100mA of current then the AFE4403 is best and if they only need 50mA then they can use the AFE4400.

AFE4400 is more for Finger Clip Pulse-ox and the AFE4403 is for Clinical Pulse-ox patches.
