Color Killer meaning in TVP5147M1 device

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5147M1

Hello,

my name is Alberto and I am working as HW engineer. I am using TVP5147M1 device in one of our designs and I need to understand the meaning of color killer threshold.

If I configure the threshold value to 00000, what is the minimum voltage level of the burst region allowed? and if the threshold value is 111111?

On the other hand, if I disable the color killer I observed some color noise in the IR image. Is it possible to avoid this noise?

Best regards,

Alberto

  • It is not a simple voltage level and depends on many factors.

If your image source is monochrome (luma only) then I suggest completely disabling color demodulation. There are a number of ways to do this but the simplest is to configure for s-video and only use the luma channel.
