ADS131 before and after power up IO status

Hi Precision Data converter team,

I'm Vio Liu from Guangzhou, China. One of my customers is using ADS131. They have a question about the analog io and digital io status.

1. On page 51 of ADS131, we can see that before power up, all the digital IO and analog IO should be low.

2.All the unused analog inputs should be pulled to AVDD, as the datasheet says. How to deal with the conflicts with the list above.

3.If we don't need the PWDN function, we need to pull it to 3.3V power supply. How should we connect the PWDN pin to 3.3V? If we connect PWDN directly to 3.3V, is there any potential risk?

Thank you very much for your answer. Hope for your reply.

Best regards,

Vio Liu

  • Hello Vio -
Regarding #2, you should be OK to connect the pins to AVDD. Some designs may use a series resistor to ensure that their aren't any accidental problems, but either way should be OK.

Regarding #3, PWDN is an input only pin, so you should not have any issue with pulling it high. Other pins that may be bi-directional would need to ensure that they were low at start to prevent direction/pin conflict.
  • Hi Greg,

Thank you very much for your clear answer!

    Best regards,
