ADS 1256 is not returning device id

 Hello to every one

Here i am facing some problem in the operation of the ADS1256 ic

i purchased 5 ADS1256 ics out of them only 2 are working properly rest 3 are not giving any response. While trying to read the device id of the ic every time it returns me FF FF FF FF Please help me to come out of this problem

    When you say that you have 2 of 5 working, do you mean that only two are able to communicate? Have you tried reading any of the other registers besides the device ID?

    I would start by making sure that the crystal is working on your board. What are you using for Y1? If there is extra capacitance on the board, C12 and C15 may need to be smaller. Use an oscilloscope to see if the crystal is oscillating. You may also need to add series resistance to the probe to make sure the capacitive loading doesn't stop the crystal oscillating.

    I would also try to get a logic analyzer and make sure that the read register communication is really not working. It might be sufficient to use an oscilloscope, but I want to make sure that what you read matches what is seen on the scope or the logic analyzer.

    I would also check to see that /PDWN and /RESET are not low and the device is active at all times. Both can make the part unresponsive.
