ADS1299 Initial Flow at Power-Up

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1299

In the datasheet, on Page 58 ,there are a figure teaching us how to do. But I still have some problems. Especially before Activate Conversion.

In my experiment, I set CLKSEL PIn =0; and Use Internal Reference. Tie the Start Pin to GND , so that I can start conversion by codes.

Anyone tell the procedure in detial would be fine. Thank you!

  • Hey Tracy,

If the CLKSEL pin is pulled low, you'll need to provide an external 2.048 MHz clock signal at the CLK pin of the ADS1299. If you have a good clock signal with the correct frequency, then the rest of the procedure should follow almost exactly according to the diagram on page 58. In the diagram where it says to "set START = 1", you should instead send the START command to the device.

  • How is the Power-Up Timing Diagram I draw? After I send the SDATAC opcode , I WREG a CONFIG1 0x96, and then I RREG it , but the result is always change. Sometimes the result is correct, but mostly it's wrong. What's the problem?

  • Hi Tracy,

We should verify that your SPI timing is correct. After sending SDATAC, you should be able to ready from any register and their values should not be changing.

Please confirm that you are following all of the SPI timing requirements on page 8. If you still need some help, please share a scope capture of /CS, SCLK, DIN, and DOUT and we will take a closer look.

    Best Regards,
