DAC5688 EVM setup

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC5688, CDCM7005, DAC5682Z

Hi Hamza,

im beginner and  work with TSW3100 EVM and DAC5688 EVM..and in the users guid pdf of the TSW3100 EVM (Site 31) it"s written:

3. Load the following setup file for the CDCM7005: C:\Program Files\TexasInstruments\TSW3100\Example Register Files\Example_1.reg7005

4. Load the following setup file for the DAC5682Z: C:\Program Files\TexasInstruments\TSW3100\Example Register Files\Example_1.reg5682

and i don't know how to load it..and on the other side in the DAC5688 EVM user's Guide (site 31) it's written:

8. Program the CDCM7005 and DAC registers as necessary. An example configuration file

example.txt is included under the installation folder:

C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\DAC5688/89\DAC5688/89Configuration Files\

9. Program and run the pattern generator. If using the TSW3100, see the user’s guide for more information on how to set up a digital pattern.

My problem that even when i load the example.txt to the DAC5688 software i don't get outpu on the spectrum analyzer.

Do you know where exactly i have to program or load..i would be thankfull for it

  • Hell Moadh,

For programming the DAC5688 EVM , you will need to follow the DAC5688 EVM user's guide. You do not need to follow the TSW3100 EVM user's guide.

I am suspecting that the board wasn't fully reset before you program the EVM.

Please press SW1 (right below jumpers J5) to reset the board and USB port. On the "EVM Home" tab of the DAC5688 EVM software, press "reset USB port" when the board is powered on (i.e., 1.8V and 3.3V are supplied). You should see the status message of DAC5688 EVM detected. The version number should not be "0". If it is "0" press "reset USB port" again.

you should be able to load the example.txt file afterwards by click on the button of "load settings". The example.txt will program both the DAC5688 and CDCM7005.

Please let me know if this works. Thanks.

  • Hallo Kang,

Every thing you mentioned i did allready..i got on the analyzer output but not that which i want..im trying to do the example of the TSW3100 EVM (site 31)..the exsmple fit for

DAC5682Z EVM,and im trying to appy it on the DAC6588 EVM..i want to get the same output..im using in my DAC6588 EVM DAC outputs which will be routed to j4 (no 5v power and no modulated output through TRF3703)..i chicked the version and it's "1".

I would be thankful if you can help

  • Hallo,

Im trying to interface the TSW3100 EVM with DAC5688 EVM .Im trying to do the example of the TSW3100 user's guide (Page 29).but the example is intended for the DAC5682Z EVM.im trying to apply the same example but with cmos outpts for the DAC5688.im trying this since 2 weeks and i don't understand how interplation filters work and which roll does the NCO mixer play.i dont't get the proper out put like in figure25 (PAGE 31).if you know what are the important register setting or which setup i have to do on the TSW3100 Board, this would help me alot.

  • Hi Moadh,

Please see attached presentation file for testing the default hardware setting of the DAC5688 EVM. The default hardware setting has the DAC5688 routed to the TRF3703modulator input, and you will have to measure the modulator output. If you would like to have DAC output directly, please follow 4.7.1 of the DAC5688 EVM user's guide.

    http://focus.ti.com/lit/ug/slau241a/slau241a.pdf

Please also use attached setting configuration file. The default configuration has 8x interpolation, Fdac = 737.28MHz, and Fdata = Fdac/8 = 92.16MHz.
