I wonder if the writing register of the ads8684 is using 16bit word at 16sclk or 16bit word on 24 sclk? can someone explain this timing diagram from data sheet.

Hello Mark,

The register access (read or write) for ADS8684 uses 24 SCLK frame.

During register write operation, 16 bits are shifted IN on SDI line in first 16 SCLK. Next 8 SCLK the SDI is ignored. The device gives out the programmed value on SDO.

I also curious about this timing diagram, it has 32 SCLK. I wonder using SPI communication with the TMS320F28335 which SPI has only 16bit character, Do i need to cut it on two (2) 16 bit character?? I am totally lost in data sheet

Hello Mark,

You need to perform two SPI transactions of 16 bit each. Make sure the CS pin is held LOW through the two SPI transactions.
