DAC161S997 loop error

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC161S997

Hi. We are facing a problem with DAC161S997. We are not getting the exact current at the ouput of the DAC . Its not steady always varying and the status register shows loop error. But we have given 24V supply in the loop with just an ammeter connected for measuring the current output. And the DAC is not loop powered , we are giving a 3.3V  external supply. Kindly help in this regard.

  • Are you referencing the VD/VA supplies of the DAC161s997 to COMA/COMD? Perhaps you are effectively shorting OUT and COMA or COMD; the DAC161s997 cannot handle that condition and would flag that as a loop error.

  • Thanks Chris for the reply. we are not shorting out with coma or comd, plz see the attached circuit we have used for testing. Its similar to tht in the datasheet for DAC161S997 expect the change in the transistor , actual one is PZT3904 instead we have put MMBT2222A. Kindly check and tell what may be reason for loop error always

    regards
