DAC3484 GUI can not be configured anymore

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE62005, DAC3484

Hi,

I don't know what happened, but I can't configure the DAC3484 EVM via the GUI. If I try, for example to enable an option, it goes immediately back disable or if I want to setup the Input Format to "2's complement", it goes back to "offset binary". The GUI doesn't write any of my setups except the CDCE62005 setups. It is strange...Is my EVM defect?

Thanks a lot.

  • Serdar,

This is somewhat hard to debug. Could you back track the list of changes that you have made to your PC and also your board? For instance, if you upgraded PC to newer version of Windows, you will need to run the program as an administrator, perhaps.

Also check the power supplies of the EVM to see if they are within normal range and also check if there are any shorts on the EVM.

  • I tryed it on another computer, and I looked for shorts on the EVM. Still Iam not able to write the registers via GUI.

Can I configure the DC via the FMC Interface with my FPGA?

Anything you can suggest to do right now?

    Thank you very much Kang!

  • I would check under Windows's device manager to see if the EVM connection is still valid. You may need to program the on-board FTDI USB to seralizer chip again or replace it. I can provide FTDI chip programmer instruction if needed.

Other than that, you may need to replace a new EVM. I am sorry that I cannot be of further assistance.

  • "I can provide FTDI chip programmer instruction if needed." Yes, would appreciate it. Thank you!

  • Hi Serdar,

Please see attached for the DAC348x EVM FTDI chip programmer utilities and DAC3484 EVM test guide. These two items should help with your debug of the EVM. In case your on-board FTDI chip is damaged, you may want to look into whether you can sample the chip from FTDI website. You may also want to check if proper ESD protocols are followed when handling the EVM in the future
