ADS1220 - single ended input

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1220

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask ADS1220?

On the document "ADS1220_Overview", it shows "Single-ended measurement capability with single-supply when PGA is bypassed".
So, if we use single-ended input, should PGA be bypass?
Because we would like to use PGA with single-ended input.

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi Matsumoto-san,

When using a single supply voltage where AVSS is connected to GND, any signal measurement that is referenced to GND must have the PGA bypassed (disabled) as the input would be outside of the common-mode input range when the PGA is enabled.  However, if you use bipolar supplies where AVSS is below GND, then a GND referenced signal can be measured as long as the common-mode requirements are met.  The common-mode voltage requirements are discussed on page 21 of the most current datasheet.

    Best regards,
