HI,

I am working on AFE4400SPO2EVM kit. I want to calculate Heart beat Rate. I will brief the settings done in GUI for this kit. I want to know whether my interpretation is correct or not.

According to above (LED1-LED1 Ambient) waveform data,

Samples between two peaks = 380

Sample Frequency = 500Hz.

So, time for 1 sample = 1/500Hz = 2mS.

So, time for 380 samples = 380 * 2mS = 760mS.

For calculating Heart Beat Rate,

60000mS/760mS = 78.94

Heart Beat Rate = 78.94

Please tell me whether my interpretation is correct and in order to acquire accuracy in readings which parameters to be altered.

Hello Mamata,

Yes your understanding is correct.
By measuring the inter-beat interval, what you are measuring is the instantaneous heart rate.
Unless you want to look at the instantaneous heart rate, you can reduce the MIPS load on your processor by measuring heart rate over 3-beats or 8-beats also referred to as average heart rate.
The accuracy of your HR measurement depends on the techniques you are using for peak detection which is beyond our scope.
There are multiple resources available online for simple and efficient peak detection algorithms.
