I have your EVM...But I have designed a new board using your eval board schematics and trying to write firmware for the same...I have tested all the peripherals and now working on the LED and photodiode portion..But the LED is not glowing when I am writing default values onto AFE4400 registers..Please assist me.

Have you verified you are reading and writing from the registers correctly?

If you designed your board using our EVM, have you compared certain points to make sure you are getting correct voltage values, clocks, etc.?

Yes I have verified the registers by writing the default values and reading from SPI. Only difference between eval board and my circuit is my circuit is having AFE4400 and eval kit is having AFE4490...Will the register values be different in both?

Arnab,

After ensuring the AFE power supplies are fine and setting RESETZ and AFE_PDNZ to logic high, you should measure the following:

a) 0.75V on TX_REF pin (pin#9) for AFE4490.*

b) 1V on BG pin (pin#7)

c) 0.9V on VCM pin (pin#4)

d) 4MHz clock on CLKOUT pin (pin#30) - assuming there is an external 8MHz crystal on XIN-XOUT pins.

Can you verify all of this?

You have also verified that the EVM is working correctly and you can get the LEDs to light up?

If this is the case you can use the GUI to pull all of the register settings with the LEDs lit and you can program this to your board.

If this still does not work, it will most likely be a hardware problem. In this case, I would start comparing the EVM to the board you have. Voltage points, traces, scope signals, etc.

I am using AFE4400 not AFE4490....I checked the points you told..I didn't get the 4MHZ clock on the CLKOUT pin....I have put the crystal in the XIN and XOUT pin. Part number is CSTCE8M00G55-R0.....Can you tell me the reason for the clock to not work? Is it crystal issue which I don't suspect...Please tell me the reason...
