ADS1271 Clock Source

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA350, REF3125, ADS1271

Dear All,

I am a student and making a project. I am using ADS1271 and made the design regarding to datasheet. I used OPA350 and REF3125 for reference voltage. Applied 1.8V for DVDD. There is 27MHz Clock Source for CLK pin. What am I gonna connect to that. A crystal or any other thing. Could you please give me schematic?

Thanks

Best Regards.

  • Hello Hikmet,

The CLK pin is where you will provide the master clock input to the ADS1271. Your modulator conversions and other internal clocks are based off of this master clock frequency. A low-jitter crystal oscillator is recommended, such as this one: www.digikey.com/.../4199723.

For best performance, you can generate the CLK and SCLK (SPI clock) from the same source (i.e. your microprocessor). Limiting the SCLK/CLK ratio to some multiple of 1 / 2^n will give you the best noise performance in this device.

If you choose to provide the CLK input from an oscillator, it will not be synchronized to your SCLK, but you will still meet datasheet perforamnce specifications .

    Best Regards,
