I'd like to add myself to the list of people looking for sample code. I have the ADS131E08 responding to commands, but I'm not getting A/D data out of it. I've followed the startup sequence as closely as I can given our configuration (we have START tied low as we only want to convert on demand and we have PWDN and RESET tied high). I'd be happy to post logic analyzer screenshots, but just looking at sample code is probably the answer.

We do not have any sample code available. However, the source code for the EVM-PDK is available for reference. Since it is designed for the EVM, it may or may not be helpful for end applications.

Yes - I expect it would be helpful. Thanks for your prompt response.

Judging by the number of requests in this thread, it might be *really* helpful to add a couple of typical SPI communication sequences to the documentation for this device. I'm pretty sure we're making a relatively trivial mistake, but there's really nothing I can find that shows a 'known good' use case.

In our case we're getting status bytes indicating that there's no problem (0xC0 00 00), but we're getting all zeros for the subsequent data.

Haven't seen the email :-(
In the meantime, here's what I'm doing (clock is 4mHz):

0x11 (SDATAC) - no data from device
0x1A (OFFSETCAL) - no data from device
wait 200 usec
0x21 0x93 (Set config 1 defaults, 24bit 8kHz) - device responds with 0x91
0x22 0xE0 (Set config 2 defaults) - device responds with 0xE0
0x45 0x18 (Set channel 1 to read temp) - no data from device
0x46 0x10 (Set channel to to read input) - no data from device
0x20 0x00 (Read ID register) - device responds with 0xD2
0x08 Start - no data from device
wait 1000 usec
0x12 (Read data) - device responds with 0xC0, no other response

The ID and the read status response seem correct, but no joy otherwise.

Based on your above and the description, we have a couple comments that may globally affect your results.

1. Please check the datasheet for min/max spec on external clock. 4MHz is out of spec for this part.
2. Ensure that you are following the startup procedure shown in Figure 23 (and relating section).
3. If you intend to read data continuously, you must put device back in RDATAC mode.
