Using RDATA command on ADS130E08

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS130E08, ADS131E08

I'm trying to use the RDATA command on an ADS130E08. According to the data sheet (Pg 31) I write the RDATA OpCode and then read 216 bits of data. I'm not sure what the 216 bits of data are. It says Status Register + n Channel Data. I calculate that as 3 bytes status and 2 * 8 bytes channel for 152 bits. If there were 3 bytes of data per channel that would make sense.

Any ideas?

  • Roland,

I think this is just a typo. This part is functionally similar to a device that uses 24-bit ADCs (ADS131E08) and the datasheets were generated from the same source using many of the same graphic figures.

I believe that Figure 38 of the ADS130E08 datasheet comes from Figure 20 of the ADS131E08 datasheet. I'll check into it. If this is the case, I'll make a note of it and see if we can have the datasheet edited later.

  • Roland,

Figure 47 is a flow chart on page 45 of the datasheet. It discusses initial setup after power-up of the device. Twice it describes reading out the data with 152 bits after the /DRDY.

I'd say that 152 bits is correct and that 216 bits is a typo that originates from the ADS131E08.

  • Roland,

Figures 28 and 29 also refer to 152 bits to clock out data.

I'll make a note to have this changed in the datasheet at some point in the future.
