DAC38J82/DAC39J82 Basic Question

Hi,

I would like to ask you some basic questions about DAC3xJ82 as below.

Q1) Bypass internal Mixer

Is it possible to bypass internal signal processing circuits (Mixer, etc)?

That is to say, I would like to get the outputs which are D/A converted from direct input data.

Input data (JESD204B) ----> No processing (Bypass processing) -----> DACOUT

Q2) OUTPUT channels

If Q1 is yes, is it possible to get 4 ch outputs (A, B, C, D) independently?

Normally, A and C ch are I data of 1 and 2 ch, B and D ch are Q data of 1 and 2 ch, I think.

Q3) Evaluation environment

TSW14J56EVM board is necessary to do above evaluation?

For example, how about "Signal Generator of JSD204B + DAC3xJ82EVM" is possible to evaluate?

Thank you very much in advance!

  • Hi, Takumi:

    Q1>
Yes, you are correct. The internal digital block like mixer, NCO,QMC can be bypassed for your application scenario. You can directly output the input data from JESD interface.
    Q2>
DAC3xJ82 has 4 DAC analog outputs. And the data from the internal two digital paths can be routed to any two of these four DAC outputs by using the output multiplexer.
For DAC3xJ84, which also is 4 DAC analog outputs, but with quad channel. You can get 4 DAC outputs independently.
    Q3>
Yes, we have the evaluation tool of TSW14J56 + DAC3xJ82EVM. TSW14J56 is the data capture board with JESD204B interface. And our software tool 'High speed data converter Pro' is intended for TSW14J56. I do not know much about 'signal generator of JESD204B', and maybe it can works to evaluate DAC3xJ82EVM with detailed design, but we do not have the example for this application.

    Thanks a lot!

    Yarn.
