Hello Mark,
The RD-195 works by dynamically filtering out potential interfering signals, such as inverter switching noise, and then looks for an increase in the overall noisefloor of the system.
The current transformer should be selected such that it will not saturate with the maximum DC current that could occur, and it should transfer the frequency range of 20kHz to 100kHz to the secondary.
