ADS1278 Register Information to setup device

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1278, ADS1278EVM-PDK, ADCPRO

I have the ads1278 evm kit and I am trying to control the sampling clock and setup the registers.  Is there any documentation with register settings to program the part?  Is there firmware that I need to set up the device?

  • Hi Clarissa,

    Welcome to our forum!

You will find instructions for using the ADS1278EVM-PDK in the User Guide on this page: www.ti.com/.../ads1278evm-pdk. The necessary firmware is already loaded onto your PDK. You simply need to download and install ADCPro and the ADS1278 plugin on your PC.

The ADS1278 does not have registers for you to program. Instead, the mode options are set using hardware-controlled input pins. For more information about the device itself, refer to the ADS1278 device datasheet.

  • Thanks for the reply.  I meant to mention that I would like to drive the part without using the PDK and use a desktop ATE instead.  For this case, is there a firmware that I need to convert to be able to download into the part?

  • Hi Clarissa,

Yes, in this case you will need to write your own firmware to communicate with the ADS1278EVM-PDK. Unfortunately, our team does not have the capability to support software modifications to the PDK firmware or GUI.

If you have specific questions about how to use the SPI/FSYNC interface during your development, please feel free to post them here and we can try help. :)
