Reference design TIDA-00683 - Cuffless Blood Pressure. PTT

Has this design been incorporated into any commercial products than have CE or FDA approvals?  I work for a University and we have a contract to develop this for an industrial customer.  How do we go about testing the design? If I go to the buy button, it sends me to 8 components, yet the PDF shows a built device.  How do I get this?  The device would have to be calibrated. Would automatic calibration with a cuff have to be separately designed or is this incorporated? Thank you for your help.

  • Hi Marc,

    We do not certify our reference designs for FCC approval any more. The customer will have to certify that their product passes FCC certifications.
    Also, this reference design is simply that, a reference design. When you click the buy button, those are the parts included in the design. We also provide the gerbers, schematic and complete BOM for the customer to build themselves.
    Most of the time, customers add or remove some aspect of the design to fit their needs or put into the rest of their system, so it is not usually viable to sell the board itself.

    You will need to have to design the calibration algorithm yourself, but the AFE4404 datasheet has guidelines for your calibration.

  • Thanks for your fast response. The FCC should be straight forward. FDA is likely a bigger issue. In any event, I know that I have to get approvals. My question is whether this has been done by anyone else. How about the rest go the question. How do I buy a unit to test?

    With respect to the AFE4404, I was not referring to calibration of the sensor, although this also has to be done, but rather calibration of the PTT to the Blood Pressure which will both vary over different individuals and drift over time. The way to do this is with an automated cuff. Just wondering if this was incorporated into your design?
