AMC7812B DAC current?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC7812B, CC3200

Hi,everyone.I nearly used AMC7812b and CC3200 to design a remote sensor system. I have read the AMC1812b' s reference. I saw the DAC source current and sink current is +10mA and -10mA respectively. So is that means each of the DAC have that drive ability and 12 DAC can work together totally output 120mA current ? However ,if that's true is that conflict with the device power consumption of  95mW ?

  • HI Jiaming,

The 95mW typical spec is based on no DAC loads. Adding DAC loads will linearly increase the power consumption of the device, which will be based on the DAC output voltage and current sourced to the load.

If all DACs are outputting 10mA, please be sure that the device doesn't exceed the maximum junction temperature of 150C. If the device exceeds this temperature, it is no longer guaranteed to operate as specified in the datasheet. To reduce device temperature, the thermal pad is generally connected to a large internal/bottom plane for maximum thermal benefits.

    Best Regards,
    Matt
