ADS8555 gain error specification of six-channel simultaneous sampling ADC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8555

From the data sheet of ADS8555 ADC : channel gain error = ±0.25%FS typical value ( ± 0.75%FS max value)

this value is an absolute value for one independent channel , what about differential measurement between two channels of one pair (matching)

- what's the value between any two input channel of any of SAR ADC ?

- what's the value between any two input channel of any pair of SAR ADC (matching) ?

note : the gain error of ANALOG DEVICES AD7656 (compatible with ADS8555) is defined in datasheet :

full-scale error : ±0.75%FS max ( ±0.22% FS typical)

matching error (between 2 channel) : ±0.35%FS max

  • Hello Stephane Bradfer,

The matching error between channels is not characterized in the ADS8555; however, the following general guidelines apply across units and within a single unit:

    1)      There is a 46% chance that two channels exhibit a mismatch that is smaller than 0.5% FSR

    2)      The probability that two channels have a mismatch greater than 1% FSR is about 600 ppm.

    3)      No units exhibiting a mismatch between channels greater than 1.5% FSR are shipped.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

    Jose
