Some problems about PGA5807

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PGA5807, PGA5807A, ADS5296A

Dears:

I met some problems when using PGA5807. Output voltage changes with the change of the input frequency. When the input frequency is larger, the smaller the output voltage.Input frequency between 1 KHZ to 50 KHZ.Circuit diagram in accordance with the manual on the layout.Could you tell me the problem how to solve?

thank you!!

  • User,

I'm assigning your post to the correct applications engineer. He should respond soon.
  • Hi Customer,
    How are you?
Thanks for using our PGA5807A device.
Just double check with you to make sure we are correct.
When you got some problems, were you using PGA5807A EVM?
    right?
Notice: The PGA5807A EVM contains PGA5807A device and ADS5296A device together.
Also it needs one capture board TSW1400 EVM to be connected to PGA5807A EVM.
These two EVM connections are following the User's Guide.
If you have tried and tested them already by using user's guide.
Please let us know if it is working fine?
At the same time we will look into your problem as well.

    Thank you so much!
    Have a nice day!

    Best regards,
    Chen
  • Hi Dear Customer,

    How are you?

Please look at the PGA5807A user's guide page#47.

For example when you connect your input signal at the J10 SMA connector

" SMA_CH5(PGA_CH1) " and also your input signal freq range is running

    between 1kHz to 50kHz.

Since this PGA5807A EVM is designed to be targeted to test for higher freq input signal such as 5MHz,

therefore your lower freq signal can be affected by capacitance values such as C21 and C31.

Therefore please change them to be 10uF capacitors higher value for your purpose.

Also the transformer T2 is designed and used for the higher freq >= 400kHz.

Therefore it may have some side effect for your low freq amplitude as well.

Hope you can understand the limitations is not due to PGA5807A device itself

but it is from the PGA5807A EVM.

Thank you very much for using PGA5807A.

    Have a nice day!

    Best regards,

    Chen

  • Hi Dear Customer,

for your low freq input signal from 1kHz to 50kHz this range

by using PGA5807A device. There should be no problem to operate

the input signal within this range. Here is our simulation plot setting at Gain=15,

as you can see, it can operate the input signal (AC Response shown)

even from 100Hz to 10MHz range.

Thank you for using PGA5807A device.

    Have a nice day!

    Best regards,

    Chen
