ADS1281/2 settling time and group delay

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1282

Hi All!

I have a ADS1282. When i SYNC, the Settling Time includes the Group Delay?

Best Regards Cristian

  • Hi Christian,

Yes... The settling time is longer than the group delay, for both the minimum and linear phase filters (refer to Electrical Characteristics table on page 4 of the datasheet). For DC signals, once the filter is settled there are no more phase delays that will change the filter's output result. However, if you are measuring a complex AC signal, you may need to consider the on-going impact of the group delay.

Please note that the ADS1282 does not mask the /DRDY signal until data are settled; therefore, you need to count 62 or 63 /DRDY falling edges until the data are settled.

    Best Regards,
    Chris
