ADC12D1600RF as an I/Q demodulator

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC12D1600RF

Hi all, Can the ADC12D1600RF be used to incorporate the I/Q demod function? I notice modes where input is split between I/Q channels and clock is phase adjusted but by 180 deg. not 90 deg.

Thanks,

Bill

  • Hi Bill

The short answer is no, this device cannot be used for I/Q demod.

The long answer is that the labeling of the inputs as I and Q is somewhat misleading. It would be more clear if they were just labeled as 1 and 2 or A and B.

In the ADC12D1X00RF products, there are two different 2-input modes.

    • In 2-input non-DES mode (Fs = FCLK) the I and Q inputs are always sampled at the same time.
    • In 2-input DESCLKIQ mode (Fs = 2x FCLK) the inputs are sampled 180 degrees apart, not 90 degrees.

    Best regards,

    Jim B
