DAC7811 10MHz DAC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC7811

I am looking at using this device but would like to generate a differential output.  I would like to convert the Current output directly to voltage with resistors to make the use of a diff in/out amp.  I do need the IOUT current level to know the gains I need but do not see it listed in the datasheet.  Can I get the output current?

  • Carl,

The R2R or String resistor based DAC topologies realize their accuracy due to the strong matching capability of the process technologies we use to develop the devices. The absolute value of these resistors, however, is not as good. On some nodes the value can vary by as much as +/-20% which is why the current value is not described in the datasheet.

For DAC7811 specifically you can infer what the output current would be based on the input resistance at the voltage reference input. The typical value is 10kOhm, with min and max of 8kOhm and 12kOhm respectively suggesting again that this part would vary in +/-20% in absolute value.
