TSW14J56 and ADS54J66 - Data capture problem

Did LED D3 turn on after programming the LMK device on the ADC board? Did you press the board reset after this LED turned on and before loading the ADC configuration file? What is the status of the TSW14J56 status LED's in this mode?

Yes, D3 PLL2LK turned on after programming the LMK. After it, I pressed reset and loaded the ADC configuration file. After it, the D3 LED switched off. During all the process, all the TSW14J56 status LEDs was off. By the way, first I've configured the ADC and then the TSW14J56. Does it change something?

P.S. After configuring the ADC, when I load the FPGA firmware the TSW14J56 status LED D3 (RX SYNS) and D8 (MEM FAIL) switch on.

Based on the LED status you reported, it appears you are using the wrong LMK configuration file with the ADC configuration file you have loaded. What is the status of D3 on the ADC EVM? Are you using v1.6 of the ADC GUI? If so, did you load 'ADS5xJ6x_2x_Fs_4_mode_0.cfg? This will only work with the LMK config file  "LMK_Config_LMF_4841_491p52_MSPS.cfg. I have attached a quick startup guide that has more modes of operation to assist you.

Hi Jim,

The D3 LED of the ADC board only switches on when I load the LMK config file. Otherwise it is off. I am using ADC GUI v1.6 and I loaded the two config files you suggested. First I loaded 'ADS5xJ6x_2x_Fs_4_mode_0.cfg', D3 switched on, then I pressed the reset button. Then I loaded "LMK_Config_LMF_4841_491p52_MSPS.cfg" and the D3 LED switched off. Even after following this steps, the error is still the same.

P.S. Hi Jim, there is something else I've noticed. In the ADC configuration screen, in the "Select the device" only two options appear: ADS54J40 and TSW54J60, instead of the ADS56J66 I am actually using.

Make sure you are using the latest version of both GUI's. I get the feeling you are not.

Use ADS54J40. This is used by all ADS54Jxx parts. The other option is for our TSW54J60EVM. The GUI should have defaulted to this option.

I downloaded, installed, but the problem is still the same. I am using version 4.20 for the TSW14J56 GUI and 1.6 for the ADC GUI.

What else should I try to solve this problem? We need this board working at least until the end of this week. Is there any phone I could call to contact your team in order to communicate faster?

Hi Jim,

Yesterday the ADC+FPGA worked properly the whole day after I fixed the supply voltage source. However, today it is showing the same error as before.

Nothing changed from yesterday in the setup configuration, all I did was to switch the supply off and then on, could you please help me solve it once for all?

Check the voltages on the test points of the ADC EVM and make sure they are at the correct level. After loading the LMK file, make sure to press the ADC reset switch before loading the ADC config file. Since you had an issue with your power supply in the past, is there a chance you strained the board?

If you are using the internal VCO of the LMK04828, this LED should be on. This should right after loading the LMK config file  If using external clock mode for the LMK, this will be off. The ADC config file has nothing to do with this LED.

What config files did you load into the ADC EVM? Did you press the ADC board reset after loading the LMK config file and before loading the ADC config file? What ADC file did you select for the HSDC Pro GUI and what ADC output data rate did you enter?

1) Load : LMK_Config_LMF_4841_491p52_MSPS.cfg
D3 PLL lock LED is ON.
2) Pressed ADC board RESET SW1
3) Load : ADS5xJ6x_2x_Fs_4_mode_0.cfg



HS Dater converter Pro v4.7
Select ADC: ADS54J66_LMF_4481
Interface type: this type chosen by automatically when I select ADC.TSW14J56REVD_RX_ALT_SYNC_LVDS_FIRMWARE

Output Data rete : 245.76


When I downloaded firmware I saw LED status were changed.
D8 MEM FAIL LED is ON.
D3 RX SYNC LED is ON
D1 TX SYNC is blinking.

Power usage is TSW14J56 5V input, 1.46 A with firmware load.

These are to large to send. Go the ADS54J60EVM product folder on the TI website to download the ADC GUI and go to HSDC Pro GUI product folder to download the latest version of HSDC Pro GUI.
