ADC12J4000EVM Maximum Frequency clock

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC12J4000EVM, ADC12J4000

Hello,

I' m using an Eval board ADC12J4000EVM. I can read in the datasheet that the maximum input clock frequency is 4GHz. However, I can see in Figure 4 that the component is measured to 5GSPS. In which configuration this component run to 5GSPS? by using an higher clock frequency?

In this case, why I can't select with ADC12J4000EVM GUI an higher external input frequency than 4GHz?

Thanks.

  • Hi Geoffroy

The ADC12J4000 datasheet plot showing performance versus sampling rate is provided to show the robustness of the ADC design to give customers confidence that the device is stable at 4 GSPS. The ADC12J4000 device itself is tested in production with a maximum clock frequency of 4 GHz. Operation at higher clock rates is not supported.

The ADC12J4000EVM can be configured to use external clocking for more flexibility, Section C.2 of the EVM user guide describes how to do that.

    Best regards,

    Jim B
