ADS1299 - SPI interface problem. Device Broke?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1299

Hello everyone.

My question is simple:

is possible to burn the ADS1299 connecting the BIASOUT and the BIASINV?

Following the cause of my question.

I'm trying to use an ADS1299 with a PIC32. I notice that on the SPI pins and the other I can't reach the 3.3V (logical hight value) but about 1.2V. Even the power supply get down from 3.3V to 3V . It seems that there is something that absorbs too much current. When I unsolder the ADS1299 the signals on the PIC32 seem to work nice and so the power supply. After some time I noticed that BIASOUT and BIASINV was connected toghether, so I dosconnected them but nothing. I have used the ADS1299 on another board with the same schematic and with a dsPIC and it works fine (BIASOUT and BIASINV never connected toghether).

I think that the ADS was burn.

Any suggestion?

Andrea

  • Hello Andrea,

Connecting BIASOUT and BIASINV would probably not destroy the chip like you described, but the fact that you noticed a solder bridge existed there means there may have been other, more catastrophic solder bridges elsewhere on the chip.
