AFE4400EVM USB I/F install

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE4403EVM, AFE4400, AFE4403

Hi,

I would like to get your advice about USB connection of AFE4400EVM.

I have tried to install both AFE4400EVM and AFE4403EVM at the same time on my note PC.

At first, I installed AFE4403EVM to the PC and it was succeeded.

Next, I tried to install AFE4400EVM.

Though the GUI install was successful, USB I/F was not installed.

Whenever I connect the EVM to PC by USB, PC recognized AFE4403EVM, not AFE4400EVM. (remained "AFE44xx EVM (COM**)" not "AFE44x0SPO2-FE EVM(COM**)")

I also tried to update the driver, but I could not change it.

Could you please advise me how to change it?

Thank you for your support.

Best Regards,

  • Hi Takumi,

We have received your inquiry regarding the AFE4400 USB driver installation and hope to have some answers back to you shortly.
  • Hi Praveen-san,

    How is the situation?
I suppose it seems not to be possible to install both AFE4400/4403 at the same time...
    I would like your idea.
    Thanks!
  • Hello Takumi-san,

I apologize for the delay in my response.
Yes it is possible to have both the installations of AFE4403 and AFE4400 GUIs on the PC.
But you may be able to connect to only one board either AFE4403 or AFE4400 at any given instant.
Based on the EVM connected, you will be need to do the following to switch the COM port to the correct driver..

    1. Open Device Manager->Ports(COM & LPT)
    2. Right click COM** and select Update Driver Software
    3. Click "Browse my computer for driver software"
    4. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer". Warning! Don't click "Browse for driver software on my computer" or Windows will ignore your selection (even though Driver Signature Enforcement is supposedly disabled).
    5. Click Have Disk...
    6. Now you can browse to the TI driver folder and select the appropriate driver
For AFE4403: the USB driver file is located at (C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\AFE4403EVM GUI\USB Driver)
For AFE4400: the USB driver file will be located at (C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\AFE44x0SPO2EVM GUI\USB Driver)
    7. Click Open->OK->Next
    8. You'll get a red pop-up warning that the unsigned driver you are trying to install is the spawn of the devil. Click "Install this driver anyway".
    9. You'll get a progress bar. It might take a few minutes for the driver to install.
If all goes well you will get a message that "Windows has successfully updated your driver software"
    10. Under Ports(COM & LPT) in the Device Manager, you should now see
    For AFE4403: AFE44xx EVM (COM**)
    For AFE4400: AFE44x0SPO2-FE EVM (COM**)

Note: If you have both the drivers installed on the PC, after step 4, it might list both the drivers and you should be able to select the correct driver based on the EVM connected to the PC.

  • Praveen-san, thank you very much for your support!
