ADS1x9x evm source code

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1292R, ADS1292

Hi All,

I am working with ADS1292r. Its kit can be accessed thorough  ADS1x9xECG-FE Evaluation Software. There is a source code in its "Firmware" folder. I uploaded its generated hex file. I disabled the kit until I reset it.

I am looking for another source code which not to disable the kit!  In another post it is mentioned that another source code existed at least at 2012.

  • Hi Mohsen,

The firmware update for the ADS1292 is noted in section 7 of the ADS1x9x EVM Users Guide.  Have you followed the BSL procedure described there?

  • Hi Tom,

Yes, I did it based on the User Guide. I have a different question. If I want to have a new firmware I should have a source code. There is a source code in the "Firmware" folder in the kit software. I generated the new firmware from that source code, but it disabled the device completely!

As I searched in the posts, I found that there is another source code available(I put that posts, link in my previous post here).

    Best,
    Mohsen
  • Hi Mohsen,

That post you referred to is over 4 years old at this point. I believe the 'updated firmware' mentioned in that post is the update included with the rest of the ADS1x9xEVM installation package. Just a reminder though, that update was based on our existing GUI - if you modify and re-compile the source, it may not work correctly on your board.
  • Tom,

You are right. Anyway current source code does not generate the proper binary file.

My exact problem is that I need to disable the electrodes in a way that just one of them will be activated (acquire data) and the remaining electrodes will be disabled. First of all, I am not sure that it is possible to work with one active electrode.

If the answer to the first question is positive, as I checked it is impossible to disable the Multiplexers from the GUI. So is there anyway to disable them, I can access the ADS1292r through SPI or MSP.
It seems to me with the its standard kit, it is impossible to access the SPI. For the latter I thought it may possible to access thorough the source code( As I wrote above these things are written with 'yes' reply to the first question).

Can you let me know about these two questions?

Thanks a lot for your time,

    Mohsen.

  • Hi Mohsen,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. From the standpoint of the ADS1292, you can certainly turn off one of the channels and work with a single electrode. Modifying the source code and using the MSP430 on the standard kit might be challenging though. Do you have the means to create your own printed circuit board?
  • Hi Tom,

I tried both electrodes ( RA and LA), while one channel is powered down; they both were working and gave the ECG signal. How can I be sure that just one of them(For example RA) is active and the other like LA and RLD are disabled?

I put here the Registers map. based on this would you tell me how to set the values that cause just one electrode activation?

    Best,

    Mohsen.

PS: when I powered down one channel I tried different configuration including  "Input short"
