Wave Vision 5 Multiple Active Channel

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WAVEVISION5

Hi all:

I need a hand with Wave Vision 5 software.  Does anyone know if it is possible to have two active channels sampling simultaneously?

Thank you,

Casey

  • Casey,
Yes, you can generally capture multiple channels at the same time. From the 'Signal Source' tab (top right corner), select the signal source to be from hardware and output both Channels A+B (via the drop-down selection box next to the HW button). Then capture data and use the 'Channels' Tab (top left) to configure the viewing options for the different channels.

  • Hi Josh:

Either I do not understand your response, or you misunderstood my question.  I do have two devices collecting data, but it is not simultaneous.  I would like to have channel 1 (Device A) and channel 2 (Device B) both active at the same time, however I can not get them to be.  For example if I am sampling a signal at 15 MHz through a splitter on both channels, starting with channel 1 as the active channel and then switch channel 2 to be active and turn off the signal generator, the spike remains on the plot for channel 1 and it is not actively sampling.  I have attached an FFT plot to illustrate my point.  I am also attaching an image of my options under signal source for your information.

    Thanks,

    Casey

  • Casey,

Perhaps I do not fully understand your setup. From your latest message, it appears that you are evaluating an ADC14155LFEB evaluation board. This has a single-channel ADC device, so I do not understand where the two separate channels are coming from. From my experience with the wavevision 5 data capture platform, your copmuter can only read from a single WaveVision 5 capture board at a time, and that board may usually read all the channels from a eval board it is connected to, simultaneously. But, I only see that your WV5 board is connected to an EVM with a single channel. Do I understand this correctly?

    THanks, Josh

  • Hi Josh:

Actually, I am using two WV5 boards and two ADC14155LFEB evaluation boards.  I am sending a block diagram of my configuration.  I hope that clarifies, but please let me know if anything else about my setup is unclear.

    Thank you,

    Casey

  • Casey,

To my knowledge, the WaveVIsion 5 software can only interact with one WaveVision 5 capture board at a time, so I do not believe that it is possible to capture from both boards simultaneously.

  • Hi Josh:

So there is no way to capture data from two ADC Eval Boards simultaneously?

    Thanks,
    Casey
  • Casey,
No, not with a WaveVision5 data capture board.
    Regards, Josh
  • Hi Josh:

Are you aware of any other way to acquire data from two of the eval boards simultaneously/

    Thanks,
    Casey
  • Casey,
I am not aware of a way to do that. I think the best strategy is to use an EVM with a dual-channel device.
