AFE4400 is not Responding.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE4400

Hello,

I made a PCB with AFE4400 on it and trying to make it work. After power up and setting the ResetZ and PDNZ to high, I did some measurements as specified in the FAQ sheet.  They are,

1. TX_REF(Pin#9), 0.741v instead of 0.75v(specified in FAQ sheet)

2. BG(Pin#7), 0.966v instead of 1v(specified)

3. VCM(Pin#4), 0.894v instead of 0.9v(specified).

The voltage readings, I am getting are very much similar to those of default values.

I could not check the clock frequency on CLKOUT(Pin#30) because, I didn't use that pin in my circuit and because of QFN package, I can't reach that pin though I have used a 8MHz crystal between XIN/XOUT pins.

From the Microcontroller, using one of the SPI interface, I am sending  the configuration bytes to the AFE4400. Through oscilloscope, I can see configuration words are going out. But, I don't see any response coming out. I sent diagnostic command but DIAG_END(Pin#21) never goes HIGH to indicate it has done the diagnostics. Any suggestions? Also, I want to know, what would be the SPI Clock frequency that works with AFE4400? Regards.

  • Hi Nazrul,

The AFE4400 supports 8 MHz as the SPI clock frequency.
In order to read the AFE4400 registers, the SPI_READ register bit must be set to '1'.
Ensure that the SPI waveforms seen on the oscilloscope match the SPI timing waveforms in Figure 56 and Figure 57 of the AFE4400 datasheet.
