tsw1400 with dac5681z evm

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC5681Z

Hi,

I am using dac5681z evm to generate sine wave. As given in GUI the pattern generator is TSW3100, but it is obsolete.

So they suggested TSW1400 and this evm has its own GUI.

What is the procedure to programme the fpga?

How to generate pattern file in "hsdc" to produce sine wave?

  • Hi Yogesh,

I am assuming you have already downloaded the HSDCpro software. If not you can download it from following link.

    www.ti.com/.../dataconverterpro-sw pro software&tisearch=Search-EN-Everything

You can follow to users guide to set it up. Once the TSW1400 board is connected to the HSDCpro software follow these instructions.

    1. Go to the DAC tab and select the DAC5681z device from the dropdown menu on top left part of the GUI by clicking the downward pointing green arrow. it will ask to download the firmware for the DAC say yes.

    2. Enter the appropriate data rate and DAC data format( 2's complement or offset binary). They should correlate to the settings you have for your DAC(using DAC gui).

    3. On the bottom left of GUI there is the section for I/Q multitone generator. For single tone(sinewave) set TONE bandwidth to 0. Number of tone(#) = 1 and set the tone center to frequency at which you want to generate your tone at( say 10M if you want to generate a 10MHz tone.)

    4. You can keep the # of samples to default value of 65536.

    5. For tone selection you can select REAL.

    6. Hit the Create Tones button and you will see a tone displayed in time domain and frequency domain windows. Make sure you are able to see the tone appears at right frequency.

    7. Hit the send button and your pattern will be sent to the DAC.
