Temperature of ADS1602

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1602

At room temperature the surface temperature of the ADS1602 converter is 130 deg F, running internal voltage reference.

Power supply draw looks correct.  Is this high running temperature normal?

  • Hi Pavel,

The typical power dissipation of the ADS1602 is 530 mW, so it will run warm.  Feel free to let us know how much current is being drawn from each of the supply rails to the ADS1602.

  • Hi Tom

Right now the total consumption of the ADS1602 is around 100 mA (analog plus digital). I would have to cut traces on my board and measure individual rails to get the separate current measurements for the analog and digital power pins. I am measuring the input current to my 5V and 3.3 V LDOs.

    Measured the internal references are at 0.94 V, 2.36 V, 3.94 V. Measured power supply 5.0 V for analog and 3.26 V for digital.

Would a small heat sink help?

    Thanks,
    Pavel
