How do I access the AFE4400's SPI interface externally (using another MCU) from AFE4400EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE4400

I recently got the AFE4400EVM.

According to it's datasheet, it is possible to access the digital interface externally as mentioned below (ref. pg. # 30):

How do I access those signals externally for a project?

Is it possible to interface the AFE4400's digital pins to an external MCU for data acquisition?

  • Hello Saad,

Yes you can interface the AFE4400's digital pins to an external MCU by removing the jumper resistors listed in Table 4 (section 5.3) of the AFE4400 Users guide and soldering wires from the resistor pads closer to the AFE to the external MCU GPIO pins.
Tie the GND of the two boards together.
If you do not plan to power the AFE4400 EVM through the USB, then provide the appropriate supplies of the AFE externally.

It is possible to receive the AFE4400 data for Rx and Tx pins M430 using an external microcontroller?

The only way is to remove the table resistors 4 of section 5.3?
