ADS131E04, I/Os low at startup

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS131E04

Hello!

On ADS131E04 datasheet, in the "Power-up sequencing" section on page 27, it is stated that "Before device power-up, all digital and analog inputs must be low. At power-up, these signals should remain low until the power supplies have stabilized."

This can be done for some signals, but is quite difficult for others; I do not use RESET and PWDN, for example, and then I should pull them up to VDD, but this would violate the requirement. Moreover, in the part demonstration kit I see there are pull-up resistors on these signals and on CS, too.

When I looked at the requirements first, I tried to pull down all signals (even CS and DRDY, which are active low) but now I am a little confused. What should I do?

Thanks in advance.

  • Stefano,

It is perfectly fine to tie the pins to a supply. Basically the requirement is making sure you don't pull the pin high before the supply goes up because that could cause issues. If they are tied to the supply voltage, that is not possible so it will be fine.
