my ADS131E08 is using 4 volt external reference.

I want to switch to the internal one while the external ref is still connected, is it possible?

Mohamad,

That is not allowed. The REFP will have the output of the internal reference buffer applied to it. If there was an external reference also applying a voltage there, it would be a short circuit.

so this mean there is no buffer protection between the external Ref and the internal buffer ref.
