ADS130E08 TestP and TestN can used as Input port?

hi,

I have a customer which plan to use ADS130E08 but he need 9 input ports instead of 8 as planned. He saw the Input Multiplex block diagram has an extra TestP and TestN pins seems like can be used for the 9th input ports. However, the datasheet indicated this as output ports. He would like to know if this TestP/N can be used an input port as well. Please advice.

    Hello kpk,

    The test signals cannot be used as an extra channel in the same way as the normal channels can. The input multiplexer allows for the input to be taken from the TEST pins, but you will have to wait for the sinc filter to settle each time the multiplexer is changed. Therefore, you cannot simultaneously sample the test signal inputs with the normal inputs on the same channel. In addition, we have not characterized the signal chain using those inputs so we cannot guarantee performance using those inputs.
