ADS131E08EVM-PDK software does not access registers/device?

We finally have our ADS131E08EVM-PDK connecting so we can start evaluating. Now when we change anything in the channel registers tap, the register map tap remains all zero's. Also when trying to do a capture the software just hangs.

The jumper settings on the device are left untouched. I checked all jumpers with the manual and it should work.

Any tips here?

Hello Jan,

In the upper right portion of your screen in the first page when the EVM opens, do you see the words "Download Fail... Reset Hardware"? If so, you may need to open up the Device Manager, find the device appears when the EVM is plugged in, and point the OS to the driver stored in ".../ADS131E08EVM\lib_13xe08\Styx\usbstyx_drivers".

By the way, you may also want to see if the board is powered on. Are there any LEDs that are lighting up? You will need to apply power through J2 of the motherboard.

Yes of course it's up and running. We indeed had those problems of download fail but that got solved and firware was uploaded to the DSP.

I just remembered that in the process of trying to get things working we applied 10V to the -VA (0V) and +VA (10V) on JP14 of MBB0. We found that somewhere in a manual. Could that break the ADS131E08 itself on the daughterbord?

Yes, the board is powered correctly and we've passed the download fail errors.

In the process of getting it to work we applied 10V to the -VA and +VA pins on the external power terminal block (0V on -VA and 10V on +VA)of MBB0. I found that somewhere in a manual. Could this break the ADS131 on the daughterboard?

Jan,

To be clear, is the EVM working now? I don't think applying 10 V to those terminals would have any effect since they are not connected to anything on the EVM.

No it's not working, see my original post.

The connection to the motherboard is correct, I can see registers, change registers in the tabs,etc... but when I go to registers tab, all registers remain 0. Also trying to capture data (f.i. 1000 samples at 16ksps) takes forever and the program hangs.

Sorry I misinterpreted your last post. It seems like there are still driver issues. Are you using either Windows 7 or Windows XP?

At the moment it's installed on a Windows XP machine. Windows 10 didn't work.

Hey Jan,

It seems like now there may be a hardware issue. Since the board seems to be connected to the PC, perhaps the lack of communication is coming from some cold solder joint, failed component, ESD damage, etc. It may be best to obtain a new EVM.
