Hi,

What will happen if AMC1204 (or any similar isolated sigma delta modulators) sees input voltage that are within CMRR and absolute max voltage, but differential voltage is greater than +-250mV? Will its output bit stream be clamped at 100% of 1s/0s or will it exhibit some weird behavior?
I'm asking this because I intend to use it as over current protection device, and hence in case of a fault, its differential input voltage can be as high as 1.5V (0.25V and 1.75V on in+ and in-).

    Hi Bo,

    With the AMC1204, the output will saturate as either all one's or all zero's. We implemented a 'fail safe' mode in the AMC1304 and AMC1305 where the output will saturate, but also provide you with a single pulse every 128 MCLK cycles.
