ADC12J4000EVM & TSW14J56 Capture EVM Data rate

Hi,

We have the capture setup operating and we have a question regarding the lane rate specified by the TSW14J56 GUI.

To my understanding when operating with the ADC in bypass mode the parameters should result in lane rate of 2*Fsample (as specified in table 11 of the ADC datasheet (i.e, if Fsample is 2700MHz, the lane rate should be 5400Mbps).

This is consistant with the following equation:

Data rate=Fsample*12bit/sample *10/8 * 64/60 / 8lanes.

However, when we select Fs=2700MHz in bypass mode, a message pops in the middle of the screen "The lane rate is 6750Mbps".

This is not consistant with the 5400Mbps that we expect.

Could you please clarify this to us?

    Hi Itai

    The HSDC Pro lane rate calculation is not properly accounting for the method of data packing or the Tail bits used in the DDC Bypass mode data format. For this reason the reported lane rate is incorrect. Your calculated value of 5400 Mbps is correct.
