DAC3484 4-Channel Real-Mode Operation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC3484

Hello

I'm Alber as an FAE in Arrow Korea.

My customer ask that using 4-CH Real-Mode in DAC3484.

Is this available to go different signal each DACs?(ex. Ch1 : LTE, Ch2 : WCDMA, Ch3 : GSM, Ch4 : CDMA)

Of course, each channel-signal's center frequencys has offsets in IF frequency, not Zero in baseband.

Following is their target configuraiton.

Input Sampling Rate : 122.88Msps

Max Signal BW : 30MHz

DAC Sampling Rate : 983.04Msps(Interpolation 8x)

Thanks.

  • Hi, Alber

DAC3484 has a quad-channel with 32 bits of 2 independent fine mixers. This means DAC3484 is optimized two complex transmission.

From this reason, you cannot use DAC3484 for four different signal protocols such as LTE, WCDMA, GSM and CDMA.

    Thanks,

    KW

  • Dear KY

    Thanks for your feedback.

Accoding to following Block Diagram in Datasheet, if customer doesn't use FS/4 mixer, Compelex Signal Mixer and NCO, is this use available in different signal path at Real-Mode?

if they use 'Normal' or fs/2 Mode, I signal go to I_DAC and Q signal go to Q_DAC Only...

    is this impossible?

    Thanks.

  • Hi, Alber

The interpolation and mixing stages can be set as bypass. With normal mode (mixer bypassed), the quad real signal out of DAC3484 should be feasible. But GSM has different signal rate compared CDMA, WCDMA and LTE. From this point of view, I don't think common platform for those four protocols is realistic.

    Thanks,
    KW
