AFE4490 vs AFE4400

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE4490, AFE4400

Hi Team,

It looks like AFE4490 and AFE4400 are basically pin to pin compatible.

What changes would need to be made to external circuitry and firmware when replacing AFE4490 with AFE4400?

Thanks,

Nabeel

  • Hi Nabeel,

    You are correct.
AFE4490 and AFE4400 are pin to pin compatible and they have similar functionality.
AFE4400 has a lower performance spec.

No changes are required for the external circuitry but it requires few firmware modifications to migrate from AFE4490 to AFE4400.
For example, AFE4400 does not support the following:

    1. Separate gain and bandwidth control
    2. Higher LED current ranges (supports up to 50 mA)
    3. ADC bypass mode
