AFE4404 Tx Output

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE4404

Hi Team -

Posting this on behalf of customer.

Looking to use the AFE4404. From the documentation, the Tx output will go up to 5V, but with the LED being used, 7-8V is needed for full output.

1. Is there a different device that can handle this?

2. Was thinking about using an external voltage source to supply the LED... any issues here?

Thank you

  • Hi Dan,

In AFE4404, when the LEDs must be tied to a different supply, care must be taken to ensure that the LED supply is within 0.3 V of TX_SUP. This consideration of the LED supply voltage prevents the electrostatic discharge (ESD) diodes inside the AFE from turning on during the off state of the LEDs.

We do not have any other device that supports this requirement.
