RTD ADC Recommendation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1220, ADS1247, ADS1248, ADS1118

I'm looking for an ADC to interface to an RTD to meet the following spec.

- +/-0.5deg accuracy over a temp range from -20 to +70C.

Thanks,

Greg

  • Greg,

I haven't done any kind of error analysis on the specs, but I think that you'd be able to use the ADS1220 or ADS1247. If you look at the datasheet both have some sort of write-up on the design of a temperature measurement system with a 3-wire RTD.

Both designs are written with cases where the operating temperature is held at 25C, so there will be gain and offset drift that will add to the measurement error.

If multiple channels are required, then the ADS1248 can be used or there is the new ADS124S0x devices which should be available in the next couple of weeks.

  • Hello,

    We achieved a 0,2°C accuracy RTD 3 wire measurement over -100°C ; +400°C with an ADS1118.

    Best regards.
