[ ADS1248 ] Ground Plane under Device?

[ ADS1248 ] Ground Plane under Device?

Hi expert,

Can you please explain why the datasheet suggest to place huge ground plane under device?
It seems that "Do's and Don'ts" and "Layout Guideline" do not mention that tips...

Thanks,
Ken

  • Kenichiro-san,

The ground plane is drawn as a continuous plane underneath the device because it can be done easily. In general, it's good to lay out as much of a continuous plane for the ground for shielding the device from EMI and reducing the ground loop voltage. Here, it's easy to put down a ground plane below the device and route analog and digital lines in different directions from each other.

  • Hi Joseph,

Thanks a lot! Good information! Still follow the guideline in the datasheet.
(It's recommended to separate the analog and digital part!)

    Enjoy your holidays!
    Thanks,
