ADS1259: Oscillator for multiple ADS1259

Part Number: ADS1259

We currently have 4 ADS1259 parts on one circuit and we sample all four of them at the same time.  Currently each part has it's own external crystal connected to XTAL1 and XTAL2.  I would like to use one (1) oscillator part (for example: ASV-7.3728MHZ-EJ-T at 3.3V) for all four (4) ADS1259 parts.  So the oscillator output would be connected to the XTAL1 pin on all four ADS1259 parts and the XTAL2 pin would be left floating.  Will using one oscillator to provide an external clock to four ADS1259 work?

Thanks

  • Hi John,

I don't see an issue with using one oscillator to drive four ADCs...The clock input is high impedance and the oscillator's output is likely buffered. I would just recommending keeping the clock traces short, and avoid routing clock traces through vias when possible.

    Best Regards,
